Hair treatment in Bali has to do more than it does at home, because sun, salt, chlorine and hard water strip hair here faster than almost anywhere, so everything below is built to put back what the island takes out. Repair for the lengths, scalp work and hair spa for the roots, keratin for frizz, color and correction, cuts, wash and styling, and the add-ons that go with any of it. Hair treatment in Bali, and why it has to work harder here
Heat and humidity mean more sweat and more product. Hard water leaves mineral residue that never fully rinses. Sunscreen, salt and dust from the road settle at the roots, and strong sun dries the lengths out from the other end. That is why hair that behaved at home stops behaving within a fortnight of arriving, and why hair treatment here is maintenance rather than luxury. Every service on this page starts from that, and every one of them starts with a wash in advanced filtered water, because treating hair still carrying mineral build-up is wasted effort.
Hair spa Bali, done as treatment rather than theatre
A hair spa should leave your hair measurably better, not just smelling nice for an afternoon. Ours is a wash, a long scalp massage and then the treatment itself, worked into the hair rather than laid on top of it. Day Hair Repair is for dry, rough, breaking lengths. Day Scalp Treatment is for an itchy, oily or congested scalp. The Signature Day Hair & Scalp Treatment does both and is the deepest detox of the three. Natural Hair Therapy is the same care using the Embun Natural range, for sensitive scalps and anyone avoiding sulfates.
Keratin, if frizz is the thing you want gone
Three of them, and they are not the same treatment at three strengths. Signature Day Keratin is the everyday enrichment one. Intense Hair Keratin goes further and gives the straightest, flattest result. Mermaid Gloss Keratin is the one for blonde, bleached or brassy hair, because it corrects tone while it smooths. If you are not sure which, that is a photo and a message rather than a guess.
Color, lightening and putting color right
Artisan Hair Coloring for a full head, Artisan Re-Growth for the roots when the rest is still good, Day Blending for balayage and highlights, and Day Lighter for a full bleach. Green Hair Removal is the corrective one, for hair that has turned in a pool. Color is where hair gets damaged fastest, which is why Olaplex goes into the lightener rather than being sold to you afterwards as a rescue.
Cuts, wash, styling and the add-ons
A haircut, a fringe trim, and hairdos, styling and braids all sit under Hairdressers. Wash and styling comes as Signature or as the Mermaid Treatment Wash & Styling, and Hair Extension Care is the maintenance wash for anyone wearing extensions. The add-ons go with any of it: Olaplex where bonds are broken, Infrared to drive a treatment in, and Shower Today for rinsing the beach off before you sit down.
They work better together, and we will say when they do not
A clean, calm scalp gets better results from every service that follows it, and repaired lengths hold color and keratin far better than damaged ones. What is the best hair treatment in Bali for sun and salt damage?
For dry, rough, snapping lengths it is Day Hair Repair Treatment. If the problem is at the roots instead, itchy or oily or flaking, it is Day Scalp Treatment. If it is both, the Signature Day Hair & Scalp Treatment covers the lot. What is the difference between a hair treatment and a hair spa?
In most salons, marketing. Here the distinction is simple: the repair treatment targets the lengths, the scalp treatments target the roots, and the Signature Day Hair & Scalp Treatment does both and goes deepest. All of them include a proper massage.
Where can I get a hair spa in Bali?
At all three Day Hair Habit salons: Cemongkak and Labuansait in Uluwatu, and Gunung Sari in Ubud. Every room runs the same menu and the same filtered water, so book whichever one you can get to.
Do you do keratin and color as well as treatments?
Yes, and they are all on this page. Keratin Treatment covers the three smoothing options, Hair Coloring covers full color, re-growth, Day Blending and Day Lighter, and Hairdressers covers cuts and styling. This page is the whole menu, not one part of it.
How often should I have a hair treatment?
Every four to six weeks while your hair recovers, then as maintenance. If you're swimming daily, more often. We would rather tell you to come back less often and get more out of each visit.
Can I book a treatment on the same day as color or a cut?
Yes, and it is a good pairing. Tell us everything you want when you message so we can hold the chair, and we will sequence them the right way round.
Do you do treatments for hair loss?
Our scalp work improves the conditions hair grows in: circulation, oil balance and follicle health. It isn't a medical treatment and we won't tell you it is. For sustained loss, see a doctor as well.
Sun, salt or chlorine: which one is doing the most damage?
Chlorine is the harshest on colored and lightened hair, salt water is the most drying day to day, and sun is what quietly changes your tone while doing both. Most hair we see here has had all three in the same week. The useful question is where you feel it, the lengths or the scalp, because that is what decides which treatment you actually need.
