Mermaid Gloss Keratin neutralises brassiness, restores shine and helps reverse the effects of sunshine, salt water and pool days. It corrects tone and leaves the hair smoother in the same sitting, so you get a cleaner, cooler blonde as well as calmer hair.
Yes, you can have keratin on bleached hair
It is the question we are asked most by blondes, and the answer is yes, with the right formulation. Mermaid Gloss Keratin is the blonde keratin treatment in our range, and it is the only one of the three we put on bleached hair: formulated to work on everything from freshly balayaged hair to bleached hair that has gone porous. It rebuilds fibre as it works, which is the opposite of what people fear a chemical service will do to already-lightened hair. If your hair is not blonde or lightened, this is not your treatment and we will tell you so.
It takes the yellow out as well
This is what separates it from the other two keratins. Brassiness and yellow tones are warm pigment showing through as your tone fades, and sun, salt and hard water all speed that up. Mermaid Gloss Keratin neutralises those yellow tones as part of the same service, so a cooler blonde and calmer hair come out of one appointment rather than two.
Up to 30 washes
The treatment lasts up to 30 washes, fading gradually rather than dropping off. It hydrates as it works, rebuilds the fibre and supports the follicle, and it is formaldehyde-free, paraben-free and cruelty-free. Salt water and chlorine are what push a blonde warm fastest, so keep out of the pool while the treatment is in and you get the whole run of it.
Timing it after the bleach
We cannot put keratin over a fresh bleach on the same day. The hair has to settle first, and that means 2 to 4 weeks between the two appointments, in either order. If we lightened your hair, we plan both around each other. If your blonde came from another salon, send us a daylight photo on WhatsApp and tell us everything that has been done to the hair and when. Our team will advise you from there, or invite you in for a consultation. We would rather tell you honestly than work blind.
If the pool got there first
Green is not a toning problem, and Mermaid Gloss Keratin will not fix it. We will not put it on green hair at all. Green is a mineral deposit from pool water settling into porous hair, and only our Green Hair Removal service lifts it out. That has to happen first. Once the deposit is gone, Mermaid Gloss Keratin keeps the tone from drifting again.

Can you do a keratin treatment on bleached hair?
Yes. Mermaid Gloss Keratin is formulated for it, from freshly balayaged hair through to bleached hair that has gone porous. It rebuilds fibre as it works, and it's formaldehyde-free. It is the only one of our three we put on bleached hair.
Is keratin safe for bleached hair?
With the right formulation, yes, and it usually leaves bleached hair in better condition than it found it. If your hair is severely compromised we may recommend a repair treatment or Olaplex first. Send a daylight photo and we'll tell you honestly rather than take the booking regardless.
Does keratin turn blonde hair yellow?
Not this one. The opposite is the point of it: Mermaid Gloss Keratin neutralises yellow tones and brassiness as it works, so you leave cooler than you arrived.
How long after bleaching can I have keratin?
Not the same day, and not the same week. Leave 2 to 4 weeks between colour or bleach and a keratin, in either order. Send us a daylight photo on WhatsApp with everything that has been done to your hair and when, and our team will advise you or invite you in for a consultation. If we did the bleach ourselves we'll plan both appointments around each other.
How long does it last?
Up to 30 washes, fading gradually rather than all at once. A gentle shampoo with a safe amount of sulfate will get you to the top of that range. Salt water and chlorine are what cut it short, so we would rather you stayed out of the water while it lasts.
My blonde has gone green, will this fix it?
No, and we won't put it on green hair at all. Green is a mineral deposit from pool water and only our Green Hair Removal service lifts it out. Once the green is gone, Mermaid Gloss Keratin is what keeps the tone clean afterwards.
How do I keep the tone cool between appointments?
Use a gentle shampoo with a safe amount of sulfate, and keep the hair out of salt water and chlorine while the treatment is in. Sun, sea and hard water are what push blonde warm, in that order. When the warmth comes back faster than you expected, book another Mermaid Gloss Keratin rather than trying to fix tone at home.
